Spring is coming….honest! Even if the weather can't quite decide what it wants to do today, we’ve been busy bees over here at Funky Junk Auctions. We’ve been tidying up, sorting through some amazing new goodies, and working on a little project that we think you are going to absolutely love.
You’ve probably seen our "FuNkY Facts" popping up on your social media feeds over the last few months. We love sharing those little nuggets of history, those "did you know?" moments, and the stories that make vintage items so special. Well, we had a thought….wouldn't it be great if all those facts were in one easy-to-find place?
That’s why we are so excited to give you a sneak peek at the FuNkY Facts Vault!
We are working hard behind the scenes to consolidate every piece of trivia, every vintage secret, and every cool collector tip into one organized, beautiful vault right here on our website. It’s going to be your one-stop shop for learning about the treasures you find in our auctions….and trust us, there are a lot of stories to tell! Why the History Matters….

A Taste of the Toys
One of our favorite categories in the upcoming Vault is, of course, the toys. We see so many classic cars and retro figures come through our doors, but VINTAGE TOYS have some of the coolest backstories in the business.
Take Hot Wheels, for example….did you know the brand launched way back in 1968? The creator, Elliot Handler, actually teamed up with a rocket scientist to make sure those tiny cars performed better than anything else on the market. That is some serious engineering for a toy!

We get asked all the time….what actually counts as an antique? It’s a great question! Usually, for something to be an official antique, it needs to be about 100 years old. Anything younger is usually called "vintage."
But in our world, it’s all about the character. We love the "patina": that natural wear and mellowing that happens over decades. It tells a story of an object that was used, loved, and kept safe for the next generation.
